Nose surgery in New Jersey

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

During nose surgery, plastic surgeons may reshape the nasal bones, cartilage and soft tissues inside the nose to improve the appearance and functionality when necessary. The final outcome of nose surgery relates to the surgeon’s technical skill and artistic expertise. Sometimes, there are limits to the procedure. For example, intracranial features and skin condition are features of the nose that cannot be altered in nose surgery and may have a role in the outcome of the procedure. Complication risks are very low, but sometimes unavoidable in nose surgery. The patient’s compliance with post operative instructions following the procedure also plays a role in the final outcome of nose surgery.

It is true that some complications may result from error in surgery. Though, all in all the risks are very low in nose surgery. Complications can usually be managed through treatment by a plastic surgeon and some complications may require secondary nose surgery. Yet, the rewards from relief of nasal birth defects, trauma, or an unsatisfactory nasal appearance are plentiful for most all nose surgery patients.

By exploring some complication risks, people interested in nose surgery can see how their part in nose surgery is an important component in surgical outcomes. Following your surgeon’s instructions is vital in limiting complications. Ask your surgeon any questions and concerns you may have about your healing process. Once you go home to heal, call the staff with questions that may come up during your healing process.

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

When rhinoplasty is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including infection, nosebleed, or a reaction to the anesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following your surgeon’s instructions both before and after surgery.

In the days following surgery, when your face is bruised and swollen, it’s easy to forget that you will be looking better. In fact, many patients feel depressed for a while after plastic surgery-it’s quite normal and understandable.

Still, healing is a slow and gradual process. Some subtle swelling may be present for months, especially in the tip. The final results of rhinoplasty may not be apparent for a year or more.

Los Angeles board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Hoefflin performs facelift surgery using the most advanced techniques, while placing the highest priority on patient safety and comfort. Dr. Hoefflin has lectured and interviewed on safety in outpatient plastic surgery operations.

Hereditary factors, personal lifestyle choices, and sun exposure all contribute to the aging process and changes in our facial appearance. As we age, important structural facial fat is lost or descends in our midface. This, together with the loss of elastic support in our skin can create excessive wrinkling and sagging skin. The result is a tired or drawn out facial appearance. Combined with the very fine lines from excessive sun exposure, the aging process becomes revealed. A facelift can correct these conditions and provide a more natural, youthful, and rejuvenated appearance.

Dr. Hoefflin performs the advanced endoscopic (camera-assisted) technique by placing small inconspicuous incisions within the scalp and the mouth that become invisible when completely healed. The procedure is usually performed as an outpatient under local anesthesia with deep sedation, and may take from 1 to 2 hours. In the properly selected patient, the result is a natural, youthful and rejuvenated midface without any signs of surgery. By rejuvenating the face from the cheek area down to the jowl and neck, this technique offers a rapid recovery, with patients often returning to routine activities within one to two weeks.

During your consultation, an individual facial analysis, along with digital photography, will allow Dr. Hoefflin to provide you with his professional expertise and recommendations for the type and placement of facial implants. Patient satisfaction after facial augmentation is usually very high, with long-lasting results. Patients can expect minimal postoperative bruising and quick recovery times.

As a prospective patient seeking aesthetic consultation, you should diligently review your prospective surgeon’s before-and-after results to determine whether or not that practitioner shares your aesthetic vision. Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery has a strong reputation for producing natural looking results no matter how dramatic the change. Depending on the individuals anatomy, lifestyle, degree of age-related changes, and the amount of downtime and cost the individual is able to handle, several options are available to re-contour the face.

The Facelift addresses the upper cheeks, midface, jowls, jawline, corners of the mouth and neck. The difference between this procedure and the Micro Lift (Mini Facelift) is that the upper cheeks and midface are addressed. Essentially, the same incisions are used in both procedures. Individuals with moderate amount of skin and muscle laxity are good candidates for this procedure. The neck is treated with liposuction and the muscle is tightened and repositioned. The midface and upper cheeks are treated by repositioning the malar (cheek) fat pad back toward a more youthful position.

There are so many new and different treatments available now. Even more fascinating – there are also different ways to perform each treatment. Given this great variety, the surgeon’s techniques have become as unique as the treatments and the right combination can produce stunning results.

Your Beautiful Nose

The Keyes Surgicenter for Cosmetic Surgery is designed to provide advanced and comprehensive, cosmetic surgical services for those who wish to improve or refine a facial or body feature. The majority of cosmetic procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.

Nasal surgery patients are very specific on what they want especially when it comes to reshaping their nose. The skin that separates the nostrils inside the nose is comprised of bone and cartilage. It may become twisted or deviated , either through birth, or as the result of an injury. Due to this deviation, the air flow pattern through the nose may be altered causing it to be hard to breathe. The nose may also appear to be crooked with a ‘hump’. There are three basic procedures that involve alteration of the nose are: rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and tiplasty.

The approach to nasal surgery or rhinoplasty varies from individual to individual. Patients may have a specific area of the nose they want improved. Ethnic characteristics must be respected when enhancing the appearance of the African-American, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic or the Middle Eastern nose.

Dr. Keyes has the distinction of being certified by two medical boards, The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Both these surgical specialties substantiate training for cosmetic surgical procedures.

A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Palmer has resided in Southern California since 1973. He graduated with honors from San Diego State University and received his M.D. degree from the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. Major emphasis was placed on Facial Plastic Surgery during his five year residency in Head and Neck Surgery at USC-LA County Medical Center (the largest medical teaching institution in the world). Following board certification, Dr. Palmer completed a one year fellowship with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and is board certified with the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As we age, the eyebrows begin to shift downward from the inexorable pull of gravity. The Tissues around the mouth roll inward forming the Nasolabial Folds (fold from the corner of the nose to the mouth) and the Jowls (fold from the corner of the mouth to the jaw). Similar aging and tissue shifting occurs in the neck where tissues slides towards the midline accumulating under the chin. Reversing the signs of facial aging used to mean some type of open facelift. Although the facelift still remains the gold standard for facial rejuvenation, clearly there are many individuals seeking a more youthful appearance who do not need a facelift. The Thread Lift and Suture Suspension Lifts are a great way to roll back the clock and look years younger with a minimally invasive procedure.

Rhinoplasty can be performed to alter nasal size or shape whether it is traumatic or genetically acquired. Unattractive nasal features such as a wide bulbous tip, wide nasal bridge, large dorsal hump, malformed/asymmetric tip, crooked nose, or a deviated septum causing breathing problems are readily correctable. Even in the case of prior surgery, the nose can most often be substantially softened and the overall shape vastly improved.

Contact Dr. Palmers office today for your consultation. His friendly staff will set you up with an appointment, and ease your mind of any questions you may have.

There Are Many Benefits To Receiving Rhinoplasty

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

With Rhinoplasty, you can greatly enhance the face by improving the shape of the nose. While subtle changes are desired by some patients, a complete changes are desired by other patients. Rhinoplasty has the potential to give a self esteem boost to anyone who is self-conscious about their nose.

By making your nose more balanced with the rest of your face and enhancing your profile, this procedure can greatly enhance anyone’s facial appearance. The Rhinoplasty procedure is customized to specifically enhance each person’s face whether their nose has been damaged from an injury or a birth defect has caused them to have a less than desirable nose shape or these problems have caused your nasal airways to not allow regular airflow.

More information can be found on this website I found that I believe should be very useful in teaching more about this procedure and help in making the decision to get Rhinoplasty.
