Nose surgery in New Jersey

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

During nose surgery, plastic surgeons may reshape the nasal bones, cartilage and soft tissues inside the nose to improve the appearance and functionality when necessary. The final outcome of nose surgery relates to the surgeon’s technical skill and artistic expertise. Sometimes, there are limits to the procedure. For example, intracranial features and skin condition are features of the nose that cannot be altered in nose surgery and may have a role in the outcome of the procedure. Complication risks are very low, but sometimes unavoidable in nose surgery. The patient’s compliance with post operative instructions following the procedure also plays a role in the final outcome of nose surgery.

It is true that some complications may result from error in surgery. Though, all in all the risks are very low in nose surgery. Complications can usually be managed through treatment by a plastic surgeon and some complications may require secondary nose surgery. Yet, the rewards from relief of nasal birth defects, trauma, or an unsatisfactory nasal appearance are plentiful for most all nose surgery patients.

By exploring some complication risks, people interested in nose surgery can see how their part in nose surgery is an important component in surgical outcomes. Following your surgeon’s instructions is vital in limiting complications. Ask your surgeon any questions and concerns you may have about your healing process. Once you go home to heal, call the staff with questions that may come up during your healing process.

Nose Surgery by Dr. Piro

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

When rhinoplasty is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including infection, nosebleed, or a reaction to the anesthesia. You can reduce your risks by closely following your surgeon’s instructions both before and after surgery.

In the days following surgery, when your face is bruised and swollen, it’s easy to forget that you will be looking better. In fact, many patients feel depressed for a while after plastic surgery-it’s quite normal and understandable.

Still, healing is a slow and gradual process. Some subtle swelling may be present for months, especially in the tip. The final results of rhinoplasty may not be apparent for a year or more.

As a prospective patient seeking aesthetic consultation, you should diligently review your prospective surgeon’s before-and-after results to determine whether or not that practitioner shares your aesthetic vision. Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery has a strong reputation for producing natural looking results no matter how dramatic the change. Depending on the individuals anatomy, lifestyle, degree of age-related changes, and the amount of downtime and cost the individual is able to handle, several options are available to re-contour the face.

The Facelift addresses the upper cheeks, midface, jowls, jawline, corners of the mouth and neck. The difference between this procedure and the Micro Lift (Mini Facelift) is that the upper cheeks and midface are addressed. Essentially, the same incisions are used in both procedures. Individuals with moderate amount of skin and muscle laxity are good candidates for this procedure. The neck is treated with liposuction and the muscle is tightened and repositioned. The midface and upper cheeks are treated by repositioning the malar (cheek) fat pad back toward a more youthful position.

There are so many new and different treatments available now. Even more fascinating – there are also different ways to perform each treatment. Given this great variety, the surgeon’s techniques have become as unique as the treatments and the right combination can produce stunning results.

Your Beautiful Nose

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The Keyes Surgicenter for Cosmetic Surgery is designed to provide advanced and comprehensive, cosmetic surgical services for those who wish to improve or refine a facial or body feature. The majority of cosmetic procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.

Nasal surgery patients are very specific on what they want especially when it comes to reshaping their nose. The skin that separates the nostrils inside the nose is comprised of bone and cartilage. It may become twisted or deviated , either through birth, or as the result of an injury. Due to this deviation, the air flow pattern through the nose may be altered causing it to be hard to breathe. The nose may also appear to be crooked with a ‘hump’. There are three basic procedures that involve alteration of the nose are: rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and tiplasty.

The approach to nasal surgery or rhinoplasty varies from individual to individual. Patients may have a specific area of the nose they want improved. Ethnic characteristics must be respected when enhancing the appearance of the African-American, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic or the Middle Eastern nose.

Dr. Keyes has the distinction of being certified by two medical boards, The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Both these surgical specialties substantiate training for cosmetic surgical procedures.

Contact the Keyes Surgicenter today to have your questions answered, or to schedule your consultation today.
